Well, if you gotten this far, I’m sure the title of this ‘Inspired Thought’ grabbed your attention:)
Obviously with this title, I’m comparing your life, your goals, your future to the laying of a brick.
Here is what I am referring to: As I was doing my weekly stroll listening to a random podcast, the person being interviewed said something that made me stop in my steps as he said the following:
“Lay a brick and stop trying to build a brick wall” WOAH! How true is that? We get so consumed with creating the ‘brick wall’ in our life that when it doesn’t happen as quickly as we’d like–we give up and move on.
What if we set our intention and our focus not on the ‘cathedral’ of life and success that we desire, but rather on the simple, seemingly tedious task of making sure we did our best to lay the first brick correctly…and then continued laying more perfectly laid ‘bricks’ again every day.
What does that look like? As one of my mentors states so often ‘Win The Day’. Don’t focus on tomorrow or all the things that you have to get done, need to get done or with would get done. Rather focus on NOW. What can you do NOW-TODAY to elevate the chance of the ‘tomorrow’ that you seek occurs?
It doesn’t mean that it’s guaranteed to occur, but has a much higher probability of occurring IF you did what needed to get done TODAY…correctly—not half hearted, not going through the motions…but with the mentality of ‘ALL IN’ on the laying of the brick.
What is that ‘brick’ in your life?
Is it your fitness? Do you need to amp up the intensity of your workouts or modify what you are doing?
Is it in your relationships? Do you need to schedule a date night with your spouse? What about a date time with each of your kids? What about a scheduled alone time for you to jot down some ideas on what the ‘cathedral’ may look like in your future?
Is the brick your spiritual side? Have you struggled to stay centered on God, The Source, The Voice…whatever that higher Power is to you?
Perhaps it’s your purpose or business? Have you allowed the last few months to allow you to go into struggle mode? Do you need to re-identify your ‘WHY’ you do what you do?—and more importantly, are you living intentionally to match that purpose?
Whatever it is for you, make sure to stay focused on the laying of that brick, every brick, every day. Eventually, you’ll be able to stand back and observe the masterpiece that you have created…intentionally.
